Tettegouche State Park Engagement Photos | Nick and Ariel

Minnesota Tettegouche State Park Engagement Photos

Tali      April 16th, 2023

Nick reached out to me to start planning his Tettegouche State Park engagement photos before he and Ariel were even engaged. He had plans for proposing on Saturday and wanted to do sunrise engagement pictures along Lake Superior the next morning. Needless to say, Dom and I were stoked with the plan.

Nick has his own photography business (shout out to Focal Point Landscapes!) so talking photography together while planning his shoot really clicked (pun intended). We figured out what time we would need to meet in order to catch the sunrise over Lake Superior, did some quick planning on the areas of Tettegouche State Park we wanted to visit for their engagement photos, and went over a handful of other detail to make sure everything went smoothly.

It was a crisp fall morning when we met N and A in the parking lot of Tettegouche State Park for their engagment photo shoot. The faint glow of dawn provided just light that we were able to to see without our headlamps. After getting to know one another a bit and congradulating N and A on their (very recent) engagement, we started the short hike down to Lake Superior to catch the sunrise along the rocky shore.

The forecast for the day called for mostly overcast skies, but we got lucky with the sky lighting up for sunrise. The sun beams danced across the waves of Lake Superior and lit up with rugged shore of Tettegouche State Park, creating the most magical backdrop for N and A’s engagement photos.

We hung out on the beach until the sun finally climed high enough in the sky to be covered by the clouds, putting an end to our incredible sunrise show. N, A, Dom and I then hiked back into the woods, taking our time to explore the beautiful views of the path as we made our way up above Lake Superior. When we reached our destination, the trees opened up to reveal an incredible view of the shore of Tettegouche State Park from high in the cliffs. We stopped to take some more of N and A’s Tettegouche State Park engagment photos, before beinging the hike back to our cars.

On our way back to the parking lot, we found the cutest little trail surrounded by flowers, something that we had missed hiking out in the dark. Dom and I quickly got our cameras out (with the number of times we have found stunning parking lot views, you would think we would know better than to try to put them away until we are back in the car 😂 ) and snapped a few quick photos to wrap up our enagagement shoot with N and A.

We had so much fun capturing these Tettegouche State Park engagement photos and spending the morning with N and A. The North Shore of Lake Superior is such a special place for us and it is always such a treat to get to share it with new friends.
