Gooseberry Falls State Park Intimate Wedding | Brittany and Winston

Gooseberry Falls State Park Spring Wedding

Tali      May 27, 2022

Northern Minnesota is a special place. Quaint little towns tucked among thick forests, the charm of “Minnesota Nice” radiating from everyone you meet, and of course, the stunning views of the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Every time someone reaches out to us with plans for a North Shore wedding, my heart does a little happy dance… so obviously when Brittany reached out about a wedding at Gooseberry Falls State Park, I was thrilled!

One of my favorite features at Gooseberry Falls State Park when it comes to weddings is the shelter options. Gooseberry has two shelters that you can rent for very affordable prices, the Lakeview Shelter (perfect for an intimate dinner with a small group of family and friends) and the Lady Slipper Lodge (a perfect ceremony spot).

Brittany and Winston started their day together at sunrise. We all met out on the rocky shore for a beautiful first look just as the first rays of sunshine started to dance off the surface of Lake Superior. They watched the sunrise together while we explored the rocky beach and captured some sunrise portraits. The gentle waves crashing against the rocks provided the perfect soundtrack for their first dance and the glistening sun rays across the water created an ambiance that could compete with any ballroom.

Throughout the entire day, it was very clear that B&W had put a lot of thought into what they really wanted for their wedding and how to make it a reflection of the two of them and their relationship. Fishing is a favorite hobby they share and something they decided to embrace as part of their wedding. From an early morning fishing session to fishing decor and even a fishing pole arch as they walked down the aisle, there was no questions that a lot of thought had gone into making their day fun, unique, and truly THEM.

Wedding getting ready details

After a mid-morning nap (and a bit more fishing!) Brittany and Winston got ready for their ceremony with friends and family at their cabin rental at Grand Superior Lodge. Just a couple of minutes drive from the park, this resort is a perfect place to stay for a Gooseberry Falls State Park intimate wedding or elopement.

We are still in awe of the incredible luck with had with the weather for B&W’s big day. The morning was calm with just enough clouds to pick up the colors of the sunrise and the afternoon was sunny and warm with a slight breeze. We did get a rain shower in the middle of the day, but, in a crazy twist of luck, it only rained for about 30 minutes while everyone was inside getting ready. Literally perfect timing.

Everyone met up back on the beach at Gooseberry Falls State Park for wedding photos with friends and family after getting ready and then we made our way to Lady Slipper Lodge for their ceremony. B&W’s three pups accompanied the groomsmen and bridesmaids down the aisle and sat upfront with the groomsmen for the ceremony. It might have been the cutest thing I have ever seen.

After a sweet ceremony with B&W’s family and friends, we made our way over to the Lakeview Shelter for a homecooked meal and some delicious cake. It was so much fun spending the day with this incredible group of people. The love everyone shared was evident in every moment and everyone pitched in to help make this day absolutely perfect.

Thanks Brittany and Winston for letting us be a part of your beautiful wedding day. Wishing you both endless happiness!
