Pier B Resort | Stunning Views with all the Comforts of Home
Pier B Resort Hotel is primely positioned on the northern section of the Duluth Harbor Basin, right next to the Great Lakes Aquarium with stunning views of Lake Superior and the Aerial Lift Bridge. It’s location makes it the perfect place for a beautiful backdrop while still having great access to entertainment and unique dining options.
Getting Ready Moments at Pier B Hotel
Pier B Resort Hotel along Lake Superior was a gorgeous spot for a Duluth wedding. Dani started her day getting ready in her hotel room overlooking the harbor with her mother and daughter. Meanwhile, Dexter and their son’s were in another room getting ready for the day before heading off to the Japanese Peace Bell Garden for wedding photos.
First Look at the Japanese Peace Bell Garden
The guys arrived first at the Japanese Peace Bell Garden, and we got Dexter set up in a secluded spot within the forest while we waited for the girls. Once they were there, Grandma was tasked with watching the kiddos while Dani and Dexter saw each other for the first time on their wedding day (it’s always nice when there is extra help from family or friends during the first look). After an emotional moment between the couple, a few dips (because why not), and the pinkest flowers I’ve ever seen, we found the rest of the family and went on a stroll to explore the rest of the garden.
We snapped some shots with Lake Superior in the background while trying not to be blown over by the wind, and then we headed back into the forest. After a short stroll, we found the namesake Peace Bell, and had to ring it a few times, of course! Climbing to the top of the hill, Grandma and I tried to keep up with the kids as they climbed the Enger Tower. We had 360 degree views of Duluth, Lake Superior, and even of the Pier B Resort Hotel where the wedding would be in just a short while. We even caught some glimpses of Tali capturing some private moments of the couple below.
Pier B Resort Wedding Ceremony
Dani and Dexter had their wedding ceremony on The Deck at Pier B with unobstructed views of the harbor. There are a few different places that you can have your wedding ceremony at Pier B Resort, but The Deck is definitely one of our favorites! It’s hard to beat those perfect Lake Superior views. Above the deck, there is a second level that provided the perfect vantage point for Tali and me to get some photos from above. We even got a flyby from a flock of seagulls.
After a touching ceremony, the couple chose to have everyone stop for a photo before each guest headed over to cocktail hour, which was a great way to document everyone in attendance. A fun twist on a wedding receiving line.
The cocktail hour and wedding reception were in one of the large reception halls at Pier B Resort, perfect for an evening of celebration tucked away from the elements. Their reception hall had a wall of windows with views of all the boats parked at the docks outside the resort. Cocktail hour was a lively celebration filled with countless exclamations of “Congrats!!” and even a few surprises from their friends. The evening continued with dinner (I had the walleye for dinner, a Pier B special, and Tali had the Chicken Marsala, but we heard the Mushroom Ravioli with Bechamel Sauce that Dani had for dinner was the real star of the show!) drinks, and dancing.

We wrapped up the evening by sneaking Dani and Dexter away for a few moments just the two of them, to take in the day and reflect on the adventure they had. We strolled along the docks, enjoying the views around Pier B Resort on their wedding day. It was a perfect moment for some final wedding portraits of the two of them and a lovely end to an all-around incredible day.
